I hope this isn't too irrelevant, but I'm doing an entire section in my cartooning club just on katanas. I want to give everyone a bit of history and teach them about the nihonto and anatomy, etc. So, basically I'm asking for specific things I could go over. Though I have a special predilection for katanas, it'd be helpful if you experts can shoot some ideas so I may share the glorious weapon's pulchritude with the rest of these kids.
thank you

well I am not sure what your looking for but you could start here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_sword, http://home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/nihonto.htm, you may also look into getting a good book like the Connoisseurs Book of the Japanese Sword http://www.amazon.com/Connoisseurs-Book-Japanese-Swords/dp/4770020716 that will have more information than you will know what to do with.
