I loved this flick! I have it from Netflix and they might net get it back till I wear it out. There are actually some moral questions answered in this film, but just enough not to ruin the film for real Rambo fans. I won't spoil the film by talking more about the plot; but there is a scene that I play over and over and over and over and over again; it involves Rambo, an armored .50 cal M2 lightly dressed up like a Russian "Dushka" ( translated sweetie), and a lot of minced chunks of tissue and bone splinters. Its better than nudie movies! =D>=D>=D>=D>

I have never seen a film before, other than military provided footage, that depict this level of bodily damage from real weapons....finally, somebody got it right. It was way overdue! The "forced" sepeku scene near the end is particularly enjoyable.

Oh Yeah, My buddy rented this and we watched it 3 times. Mb, loved the scene your talking about and I agree, they finally got it right! A must watch, for those who don't mind a little gore. Reminded me of a story a friend told me about a VC, a spider hole and 3 50's on half tracks.

Well if M-Bob and Bob-O liked it, this is a must see for me. I will have to go and check it out. :ohyeah:

I have always found it interesting how most people admire Rambo. In real life people with with Rambo's personality are most often shunned and made fun of in real life, much like he was in the first Rambo. I have known two such individuals that would be Rambo if he were to try to live a "normal" life. There is no place for these people in the "normal" world.
They are often viewed as crazy, nut jobs or eccentric, and made fun of.
They very seldom take baths, can eat garbage, and can sleep on the ground as easily as most people sleep in beds. They are never married, but can survive in situations that would terrify a normal person to even think about. They will never brag or tell a normal person of their life, usually only a kindred spirit will recognize them for what they are.
I worked with "Jack", who was the butt of many jokes in the shop. He was the janitor, he worked like a maniac, best worker in the shop. Yet the boss and so called upper class surbanites who worked there always made fun of him. He had a steel plate in his head. He could eat garbage, whenever the vendors had expired food, they gave it to him. He took bathes seasonally.
Only a few of us in the shop knew he was a veteran and very possibly a Navy Seal, he only talked to a few of us, and then sparingly. The metal plate and head injury had did something to him.
One of my closest friends in life, "Joe" is another such individual. Probably one of the roughest indivuals you will ever meet, he lived through experiences that would shatter most individuals, yet never complains and just survives life a day at a time, waiting for the final battle of good vs. evil. Yet he too is shunned by most, even outlaw bikers, because he lives by different values.
So remember this, when you are out there judging people by their appearance or attitudes. Sometimes these people you are making jokes about, would be the same people whose lives would mirror those you would admire in the movies. Many Heroes end up being ostrasized and shunned in the so called real world.

Most of this useless planet, and the bio-degradable targets that populate it, are all about their labels, caste sytems, predjudice or what ever you want to call it. I scare regular society, and I'm a big teddy bear when you get to know me. I've been told by regulars, cops, friends and even doctors that I have a cold spot in my soul when the right button is pushed. They say its very wierd and quite frightening; I only know that time slows down when it needs to, and my perceptions and values change. I'm not always clear on what happened afterwards, but none of my enemies are missing.....yet.

The "Rambo" persona you talk about, the one that leads to the person who exibits it being shunned by the main stream, is the remnant of what it takes to be a real effective guerilla fighter. Frequently, the ones who were the do'ers, have a place they go within, or a power they call upon when the viscera hits the fan. The friend I have mentioned before, Ron, was such a man as your Joe. He was married, but not to an American woman, he was married to a Filipina that he met when he was doing some wet work near her village, she was/is Ilicano. She was about as tough as he was, and they both had shared 'things' in the places they met.

Ron had few friends, he only let me in after I had proven myself on some level. He loved to grab a rifle and a pack and spend time in the wilderness; sometimes, he took me along, and it was wonderful. I was no noob cherry, but he taught me a lot. I still miss him, and he's been dead since 1991; but I keep feeling he will come walking back through my door one of these days. I saw his wife a few years back, and we spent some time together one afternoon; cleaning weapons and swaping stories. She started laughing at some point and said she knew where Ron's spirit had gone; he was following me around, and sometimes she saw something of him in me.

Bottom line Dot, a lot of what you say is true, and I'm guilty of some of that "otherworldly" behavior too. When Ron and I were out in the field, we were not very clean either, and I was about the only one that we ran around with who could put up with that lifestyle. Hell, you just do it.

BobO, hello old friend, Speaking of 50's....

I've been batteling depression ever since CA made the M82A-1 I wanted a no-no! Not so much the item, but what it fired. Now I am reading about the .416 Barrett and getting some serious desire to have an inner cleansing, and start over with a new friend.

Here are some numbers that should make your nipples hard...

Hey MB, How's it hanging Bro! Dang I love spec's like that. I get all warm and fuzzy, when I hear about almost 10,000 ft lbs of pressure from a GUN! People don't realize when you get hit by a piece of ballistic steel at these speeds and pressures, you become in essence, a water balloon! Really want to shoot one of these bad boys. I think the Brits took top honors at the last sniper comp, some shooting.

BobO,

Can you imagine that these are machine turned solid brass boat-tails, which feature extreme low drag characteristics.....planet wreckers, as Ron would have called them.

Aren't they cute?

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever. Next time my bud gets one of these in,(he owns a gun shop) I get to shoot it! I'm getting all giddy just thinking about it. Hiding behind walls don't help much when one of these comes calling, it's doom on you time! If I could type I'd tell you about one of the best coon hound breeders I ever meet. His name was gunny, that's it, and he's the type of guy you and Dotanuki are talking about, nothing but respect for the man, he said Iwo was a great party!

Ah, that's one of the things I love about working at a Law Enforcement/Military gun store. I get to handle cool stuff like this rather frequently (when I have time to step away from my laser, of course.)

Man, I don't know what it is about heavy metal, (not the musical kind) but ever since I was a kid (4yrs old) I had to have it. I would fill my pockets up with metal objects and my aunt would have to empty them before I went home.

Those bullets that MB showed looked like something I want to hold in my hands.

J, these are machine turned slugs made for their proprietary .416 round, which is a necked down .50 that is now legal in places like CA in their single shot weapons.
