Let's see, he made 1,000 cuts [tameshigiri] in 36 min. 5 sec., whiich boils down to 27 or 28 cuts nonstop for 36 minutes. Actually that is quite hard to do, although I wasn't impressed with his skill level, and no hard core martial artist would ever let you know his hand was hurting or he was in any kind of pain.
That record was broke Sept. 19, this year, so it just happened. Let's see 4 cuts per target, means he went through 250 stands!! I sure wouldn't want to clean up after that!!;)

This is Taizaburo Nakamura, the father of modern tameshigiri, he was around 55 years old when this was made. He was in the hospital at the time this was made, left the hospital made this demonstration, and went straight back to the hospital. Look at his confidence and the way he moves, you would never know anything was wrong with him.
That's how a real martial artist behaves!!!!

I agree with you Dotanuki, although this was a no flashy moves demonstration, he behaved in a respectful manner that although boring compared to some of todays cutting demos, was very authentic in its application. =D>

Yes, the original link has been removed, I can't imagine why? It was a Japanese TV show that had a live taping of the current record of a 1,000 cuts in the fastest time being broken. There was actually 3 of these videos and all of them were pulled.
