I know many here have seen the 'Lone Wolf and Cub" movies, or may even have read some of the books.
In the books they mention Ogami's sword style on a few occasions, being the Suio Ryu (Watergull style). In case some do not know, there really is a Suio Ryu sword style.
I thought I would show it here;

If you notice the title is 'Suio Ryu Iai Kenpo', the Kenpo in this case means sword method, it has different characters (kanji) then the other Kenpo/Kempo which means fist method. (ChuanFa or QuanFa in Chinese)

This is 'real' Japanese swordsmanship, individuals who train and study their entire life, because they are compelled to do so, by their very nature.

Thank You Dotanuki. I always wondered about the 'wave' technique used in the films and if it was an actual school. I am aware that the actors who played Zatoichi (Shintaro Katsu) and Ogami Itto (Tomisaburo Wakayama) were BROTHERS in real life. I have yet to find out which style they were trained under ,this is a good start though! KK

Very nice, Dot. Loved the video, added it to my (relatively short) favorites list.

My only complaint: the seats weren't packed.

At 3:10, I do something just like that. What I can't remember is , are you going under neath your opponents tsuka or striking down on top of his hands with your tsuka?

Kusarigama (Britt), welcome to our Forum!! :)

Now that was interesting, I wonder if I mention that Ogami's nemesis, Retsudo Yagyu, was from the Yagyu Ryu, if we will get a member from the Yagyu Shinkage Ryu to join, with a link to their website! ;)
