Wow this is weird I actually sat here and listened to the whole thing. Even with the monotone narrator that was interesting to see. Don't think any of mine come out of the tsuka that easy at all though.

another good video. that's almost exactly how we do it at my dojo the part where he hits the tsuba is the only part we don't do but that might just be a style difference

Very interesting but I think I could never be a Samurai and tend a blade like that. After my early lives and my basis in elemental magic I really have to touch the steal to bond with it. I know its not as healthy for the blade but that just means I have to tend it closer and more frequently.

I am definitely impressed with the level of discipline and ritual they must have exerted just in their daily lives to have developed such a strong bond with their weapons without much actual contact.

dead on firehand, this is what I was trying to show by posting these. You really have to study this kind of thing to pick up the subtle nuance of every move. Notice how he extracts the blade from the saya. One of my pet peeves, there's a right way and many wrong ways. I'm talking about the first vid on the drawing of the blade. FS the guy doing this is from a Katori shinto ryu school, this is how they clean there blade.
