I remember seeing this when it first came out when I was young, untill this day I have never been able to get this tune out of my head!

Just imagine if the Pied Piper was elected President? Would he be able to go to Washington and play his tune and get all the rats in Washington and Wall Street to jump in the river and drown themselves?
Ah,.......Wishfull Thinking!
It is interesting that this was a story about the greed of those in power, that the children ended up paying for.

Much later in life, I saw the group Savatage in concert with their updated version that astounded me, once again sticking this tune in my head. Listen to this version of Savatage's from the Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Now crank up the volume and play this version!
It is Edvard Grieg's original version and my favorite!

I had the pleasure of seeing Trans Siberian Orchestra twice in person. The video there hardly puts a candle to how good they really sound. If you ever get to see them live, go.

Put yes, if all the rats in Washington and Wall Street did all jump in a river and drown...

I dont think most of us would be sober for several months!

So, what part of what is going on with the bailouts will not be chains for future generations? The parallels are too close to be mere coincidence.

...I think you are right-on yet again my friend...only the rats (of both parties) are in charge, and it is we that will drown...

BTW, I love that piece of music...the third link, your fave version, is my fave too!
B-)

This song is also used in the 1931 Classic film 'M' starring Peter Lorre. He plays a child murderer who whistles this tune as he stalks his victims.. another interesting parallel to the Pied Piper. KK

For over a decade now I have been quietly whistling "In the Hall..." to myself at random times, because of Lorre's character. Kindesmord... I think that's the only quirk I picked up from him. :Praying:

But the whole Peer Gynt Suite is amazing. Morning Mood, Hall, etc... Grieg is way up there among my favourite composers.
