I bought this without very high expectations, but I find it to be one of my favorite movies. It is a story about a young child of the Shogun, who is not healthy, and sent to a mountain castle to get better. The Shogun doesn't like this child because he doesn't look like him and plans his assassination so his younger boy will take his place, before the Shogun dies of consumption (TB). The Shogun calls for his son to return to the castle in Edo which is a long trip, for which a motley crew of ronin are hired to protect him on this journey which is surely a trap. This is a fun movie, of no historic value, but none the less a good movie. With such actors a Ken Ogata, and Sonny Chiba, this movie has lots of action, and great plot twists.

This was a good movie, Sonny Chiba's samurai period movies are usually always good [he made so many of them]. Brian, I was recently in Best Buy, and they had a Japanese TV series compilation [expensive] of Sonny Chiba playing the role of Hattori Hanzo [the real one]. I can't remember the name of it though, have you seen it? It was because of this role that Tarrentino asked Chiba to play the pseudo-Hanzo in 'Kill Bill'.

I havent seen Kage No Gundan (aka Shadow Warriors) yet, but it is on my list of movies to buy. From what I hear and have read it is very entertaining. I just checked around and actually Best Buy Online has a pretty good price $45 for season 1, Overstock has it for $48. I think that there are 5 seasons total, but if I remember right Sonny Chiba only did 3 of them.

Wow, that's incredible you mean there's a samurai movie/series that you haven't seen? [joking] If you ever get it [Kage no Gundan] please post a review, I rather know for sure that it is worth buying.

I am going to buy Shadow Warriors soon and I will do a review when I finish watching it, like I said it has been on my list of movies to buy which after this month will be allot shorter, being able to buy what I want when I want is one of the great perks of not being married
