I haven't owned one yet... but they have a reputation for being very resilent. i don't know if that reputation applies to the new 1060 blades they are producing as the older lines use 5160. if you're gonna be reworking em they're prolly great. they're great beaters (from what everyone says) i'm not sure i've ever heard of anyone not being satisfied.

If you go to SFI you'll find more reviews on Kris cutlery than you want most are positive.

I have a number of Kris Cutlery blades purchased when they were still relatively inexpensive and all available as bare blades (with habaki). I have a 29in. kat, 26in. kat, 19in. wak, 11in tanto, a ko-yari and naginata all in magnolia shirasaya & a 20in. ninjato blade re-shaped (tapered w proper yokote/kissaki) into a chokuto or 'zatoichi sword' in mahogany. All blades are 5160 with thick mune and little taper. They are display pieces only but the reputation of 5160's durability is why Hanwei is using the same steel on the Raptor series. I can't speak for KC's newer products or other lines of swords though as I don't own any. Hope this helps! KK

even though the blades are for display I would at least try it on a few mats or bottles.
