Wow that last pic with the Green leather, I cant even picture how the .. end Knot?.. (Would this style knot still be called the Omote??) is secured.
I wish we could see a shot of the other side. I like it.
It almost looks like its 'pinned' into place with a brass staple...?

There is no staple, just a knot. Which I'm unsure of the name it might be given.
Here is the link to the sales listing, plus all the photos. It shows both sides.
It's a simple koshirae, but all around, till beautiful!!!
Enjoy the full photo spread Ninja!!!!

It's called the omote knot because it's on the omote side, the opposite knot is the ura because it's on the ura side. :)
The variation is that the ito goes over the kashira and not through a shitodome which is not uncommon, you'll find it on the Hanwei Tiger.

I'm very familiar with Mr. Tsuruga of aoi-art.com If you're looking for authentic samurai stuff or nihonto, it's a great place to go. I guarantee you're not going to find any replicas or reproduction katanas on his site. On the flipside... You better be prepared to shell out some serious bucks if you're going to buy one of those blades. Right now, I'm working on trying to sell one of his cheapest blades for him and it costs 2500 dollars. However, it's an authentic, one of a kind, blade that was made in the mid 1800s. Yes... one of my hobbies is brokering artifacts and antique weapons.

You won't "find any replica or reproduction katanas" on any Japanese site...they're illegal in Japan.
