Hey folks I'm getting some work done by Robby Doom and wanted your opinions on the scheme. Pick one
A) leather tsuka wrap with leather sageo
B) leather tsuka wrap with white rayon/silk sageo
The fittings will be silver and the saya is laquered black and ribbed.

I'm presuming that the leather is black and wondering how many posts it'll take before the colours and material are altered completely. :)
In the meanwhile (A)
Personally, I'd prefer dark blue silk for both lol.

So, your sheath will be shiny black and ribbed (no doubt for extra pleasure), tied, wrapped and knotted with leather!
Tora's right, sounds kinky to me too! :-O
Just make sure you tell Robby to make sure he uses the leather wrap, not that latex or rubber stuff he and his girlfriend use all the time.
Ever see pictures of Robby and his girl?
Those two are rumored to be guite freaky. =P~
Thank goodness leather washes easy and don't stain. ;) >:) =))=))
Sorry Robby, I couldn't resist this ribbing! (pun intended)

I have done it before it doesnt look too bad, even though the saya is natural.
for this thread I would go with leather/silk

LOL, Dotanuki, you bastard!!!! Too funny!!!
Inn all honesty, it's always a pleasure to get ribbed by you.
Hmm, Jose, is this you?
If so, either way.....I'm not sure that I would personally use leather ito for the sageo.
It may work, but the thing with leather is that; it is rather thin in its width. Most sageo ito are pretty wide. That is what makes them so beautiful and I'm not talking about the tsuka-ito that most production katana companies put on the saya. That stuff gives me the willies. I'm not sure why they can't fork out the extra $14 for nice sageo ito. That's about what I pay at nishijin.
When it comes to picking a colour of the sageo ito, I personally choose something to offset the colour of the tsuka-ito. For instance, for the U-No-Kubi I have on the way; I am going to use black leather for the tsuka, and accompany it with a nice bright orange sageo. Again, these are my personal likes.
I think your swor would look best with a nice traditional sageo. Check out Nishijin, or Yomato Budogu.

Personally I'd use Silk Sageo but if your going to do this then I recommend the Paul Chen Leather Ito for it as it's a hell of allot thicker then other Leather Ito I've handled over the past five years.
I'm afraid to say that if you use thin Ito as Sageo it may cheapen the look.

I agree, silk/synthetic silk is the way to go.
Although, Hanwei's leather isn't really that thick. It's about the same as Lohman's leather. The thickest I have worked with(and believe me it's not fun) is Ted Tenold's leather from Legacy Arts.
