I rewrapped my Practical Wakizashi. It turned out...OK, not perfect, but OK.
None the less, it looks good. Now I have an even more pretty daisho.
It was not an easy task by any means, as the tsuka does not come off the Wakizashi. I tried, with failure, to remove it.

Without further ado:
(Don't mind the purple sageo ito, I need to buy a gold one to match)

I wanted to show the beauty that I see every morning out the front window and on the deck. The clouds are too low, so you can't see the mountains, but they're there. :)

Thanks guys and yes Andy, I'm very blessed with a nice view.
We'll be moving down the cost to Victoria, BC in a few months. I just hope we get as good a view there as well.

Robby; Very nice job on the swords, as usual, and your beautiful view of the water and the birch trees makes me homesick for Michigan!

Well done ;) Looks good with Katatemaki on the wakizashi. I wonder if that kind of binding is seldom on wakizashis?

They are crap but a nice blade to build on. Practical Plus much better but still no wasted tsuka...Shinto Katana...wow...sweet.. My favorate cutting sword is a Practical Plus with Eagret Tsuba.I have the Practical Plus diasho,Shinto diasho and limited edition Bamboo Snake diasho plus many others...I have a first production Practical Katana that took down a 9" palm tree without failing.

Yeah, the blade's not bad but the saya on mine was supposed to be 6 1/2 inches long but it was only 6, which annoyed the heck out of me because I'm 6 foot three and require a slightly larger tsuka.

I am also not happy with the tsuka length of the wakizashi.Chennes I beleave sells undrilled ,wrapped tsuka. Also they are easy to make by traditional methods ....or like I have done, go to the hardware store and get an axe handle and a drill bit as long and thick as your nakago. Cut to length and drill out to the length and width of the nakago...when the nakago fits in fill the tsuka with about a tablespoon of epoxy and grease the nakago and habaki heavily I then insert the nakago and hold in place untill it dries. Tsuka will tap off easly,Mark and drill for mekugi..The tsuka maki you seam to be good at. On my beater replacement tsuka I use skate board grip tape for same'. It is good to have more than one tsuka for a sword.

Too late, Ive finished my new tsuka and Like Robby and the others I scratch built it, needs a bit of tweeking but IMHO it's better than the original :)
