Looks can be deceiving for a Hachiwara. It is not actually tanto as they are not a sword, but rather a forged iron bar designed as a defensive weapon against swords. They are sometimes called sword breakers or helmet breakers. The blades approximately 12 to 15 inches in length are normally of square cross-section with a hook next to the grip. The mounts are commonly of carved wood or carved cinnabar lacquer. Some hachiwara were made by noted swordsmiths and may be signed.

I'll give you 8 out of 10 on that one,
It's a koncerz it was carried along with the saber and used like a short lance, it's scabbard was attached to the saddle instead of the warrior

I knew the Polish Koncerz, but I couldn't remember the name.
The Polish winged Hussars have always fascinated me, I don't think there were too many weapons they didn't carry, lance, pistol, axe, sword, etc.
I would guess this last one Indian/Hindi or Nepalese in origin?
illmade, I'll say one thing.
You really are a font of interesting and obscure information. (but in no way, useless!!) :ohyeah:

and we have a winner, commonly refered to as a Hunga Munga, (has a variety of tribal names) part of a family of throwing weapon used in Africa, in many tribes it was also used as a form of curency. In one case it was outlawed by a tribal chief because too many of his warriors were getting killed with it in duels. Had the advantage of sticking no matter how it hit, and even being able to rotate over a shield and injure the warrior behind.
and no I don't know the spelling of any of the tribal names either.
Did some research and here are some of the tribal names “Shongo”, “Kipinga”, “Sapa”

Wow another cigar for the man in the funny hat, New Zealand Patu used by the Māori...commonly made of bone, stone or wood, in trained hands said to be able to remove the top of the skull with one strike.
