I made a custom for a friend of mine. He had a customized Practical performance katana with green ito and green sageo. He wanted me to wrap it in black ito and sageo. Fortunately I had some black silk ito, enough for a tsuka, and a black silk sageo.
After unwrapping the tsuka I had to do some reshaping of the tsuka. I painted the same black. The fuchi/kashira is polished iron higo. The menuki is silver lizzards. The tsuba is a polished musashi tsuba. Seppas are made from 2mm copperplate. I also took the liberty to ad a kojiri. First I wanted to make one in buffalohorn but decided to shape it in 4 mm copperplate.
I also patinated the brass habaki to give it a more antique look.

Thanks gentlemen:) Im looking forward to return the katana. Im glad I was given the opportunity to make this custom. The earlier custom version of this katana I made about two and a half years ago and to tell the truth. I was never really satisfied with it untill now:ohyeah:

Hi Takatom
nice re-remake ;-)
The tsuka shape really complements the higo style.
BTW: I wonder... where in DK did you get that 4mm cobber plate???

Hi Loempe
I got the plate at a "produkthandler" (do not know the english word for a irontrader). Once in a while I go there and search metals in the piles of metaljunk. He also has containers with brass, copper and other metalpieces. Usually I get the small ironplates for free. I payed 80kr for a 40 x 40cm copperplate 4mm.
greetings from the scavenger ;-)

Lucky you... I also have my private own 'scrap metal pusher'... But he never gets goodies like 4mm copper plates in :-<I'm still looking for some cobber plate for a (pending) habaki-project. Encouraging to know that the cobber is out there somewhere, though ;-)
