I recieved the Tosho Tsuba today , smaller than i expected . don't know the age but assume a few hundred years old. (will take any better guesses)

Wabi or Wabe, I believe it is, not sure of the spelling here, it means quiet look. You would say the tsuba exhibits Wabi/Wabe.
You have got to remember the Japanese describe things in a rather abstract manner.
Where we would say it displays a simplistic functionality in a eloquent manner, they would simply say it is quiet.
