I saw this over at SBG, thought it was interesting.

I wonder how heavy that is.

Wow, a very strange but still nice looking tanto...
Is the tsuba and the tsuka and habaki actually like all one piece with the blade though?

I don't know, my first instinct was that metal was removed but it also could have been molten steel dripped on the tsuka, or maybe he dipped the tsuka into molten steel then quickly cooled it which I believe would give the cracking look, I guess someone could shoot this guy an email

Ah, Joe Walters. I had a chance to buy one of his swords for a very reasonable price, but I have my Walter Sorrells piece coming soon, so I can't.

Yes, that blade looks like one solid piece. Something you can jam through a kabuto without worrying about the nakago snapping... :D

Joe's a very talented smith but he's pretty much disappeared. He's still smithing, but i think he only makes pieces available rather than taking commissions.

If I'm not mistaken these two collaborated on a cane sword that was awesome.I think working with a designer made Joe nuts, last one I worked with ,was told he was going to get tossed out a window.

That is a nice tanto, if I do say so myself.
