View Full Version : Worst movie ever!

I have a ton of movies, including all the samurai/sword movies I can find.
I came across a movie on VHS called Sword of Heaven, starring Tadashi Yamashita, made in the mid '80s. It's about a katana that had magical powers, because monks had created it from a meteorite, and the power struggle to possess it.
I think I paid $2 for it.
I paid too much.
The premise of the movie is great, but this actor was terrible ( actually a Bruce Lee wannabe ) and had a funny voice. The action scenes were terribly shot and edited and there was some really bad acting.
I think it ranks up very high on the 'worst movies' list and is definitely one of the worst martial arts films ever.

No, actually many of those old films were just plain bad, some of them cannot by any strech of the imagination can be called camp.
This film is not that bad though, compared to some of the others I have seen.
In the 70's and early 80's they used to have Kung Fu Cinema Theatres in many major cities, movie houses that showed nothing but martial art films, all were double features and sometimes even triple features. Well, you know where I was every Saturday, it was basically an urban inner-city thing. Audience participation was also a big thing, clapping, cheering and cracking jokes (especially in the really bad ones). One time I went to a suburban theatre that showed the latest martial arts film. and everyone just sat there and watched it, kind of blew my mind, I was conditioned to the cheering, jeering and and clapping. This type of theatre is what Tarantino, was trying to recreate with his Grindhouse and Kill Bill movies.
No matter how bad the movie, the audience participation made it enjoyable. I believe the Rocky Horror Picture Show later picked up on this idea, (at least the audience did) and ran with it, and made this type of participation famous. Just like the Mystery Science Fiction Movie Theatre did with bad sci-fi flicks, so I quess you're right, goose, it can be called camp.
Tadashi Yamashita, who starred in the movie movie above, was a famous Karate instructor of the time, he was a contemporary of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in the martial arts community. He is probably best known as the villain in the Chuck Norris movie, the Octagon.

Chuck nauseous! I hear his brother Aaron is a lot tougher. Dotanuki, I use to go to china town with my brother for the movies, great stuff and cheering and jeering were part of the show, fer sure!

You should see Kunoichi That movie is TERRIBLE. These female ninjas have the dumbest powers (like nipple shock lightning, and an attack where they litterally regurgitate their opponents attacks.)

Hey, If I remember correctly, Jason was asked to provide swords for one of these movies. If I remember correctly, they even wanted to give him a bit part.

IZO. I paid $12 for it.
It's a weird artsy movie that had me believing it was really about a samurai BEFORE I watched it.
It's one of those movies that has the main character thrown back and forth through time, witnessing what he would be reincarnated to be in WW2, urinating on Priests, mounting every female he saw, it was just bizarre.

IZO was directed by the infamous Takashi Miike, well known for AUDITION as well as ICHI THE KILLER. Given his love of using bodily fluids on film its no surprise some may find his work 'unusual'. One of QT's favourite directors.. KK

I just want to see someone pay for making those gawd-awful Highlander sequels (with the possible exception of Endgame- it sucked less and was the transition to the TV series). :ranting:

Man we had 22 girls at the club on Fri -we average 12-15- That was a record for me and Ive been there for 3 1/2 years, were kind of a medium sized club so that building was PACKED with tail! We had a new redhead there all tat'd up and heavy metal (my kinda girl!!!). she's definatly in the movie! we should have NO problem filling the rest of the cast either, most of these girls would do pretty much anything for cash... or booze...;)

How come nobody mentioned "Revenge of the Ninja"? Definitely one of the worst imo.

"Versus" by director Ryuhei Kitamura was a pretty wild ride and was inspired by Sam Raimi's 'Evil Dead' films. Are you sure you didn't get the edited or English version bobO? I have 2 versions of it and one is heavily cut (no pun intended!). Zombies and swords, how can you go wrong? Watch it again uncut in the original Japanese, it actually is better the second time around and comedic in parts as well. Same director did 'Ghost in the Shell' one and two, entirely different films to Versus.. KK

I couldn't find "Bushido Blade" on isohunt.com, so I ordered it online per recommendation from someone else (no names).
Don't do it.
Red Sun was far better and it was a Western, by definition. BB is perhaps the worst samurai/gaijin crossover movie ever made.
Save yourselves. RUN!

One of my guilty pleasures is watching horrible movies. Movies that are so f'ing bad they're goddamn awesome. Or movies that are so bad that I like them for being bad. Which is kinda awesome. Crappy movies in my DVD collection usually consist of under-$10 movies; I'm sure as hell not gonna spend a lot of money on a$$ movies.
